Dear Parents,

 

We had a fabulous night of fellowship, food, drinks, and information at our Welcome (Back) Parent’s Night! We had almost 70 attendees! Thank you so much for those of you who were able to join us to make it such a successful kick-off to the year.  Here’s a brief recap for those unable to attend and reminders for those who were.

 

PTSA Board and Welcome 

Introductions to your 2022-2023 PTSA Executive Board: Lisa Peppin (President), Mikel Morrow (Vice-President), Nancy Lipnickey (Treasurer), and Meg Sloan (Secretary). We spoke about our mission to create a stronger community by strengthening the “Four Pillars” of our Gibson Ek Community: Students, Staff, Parents, and Community (mentors, local businesses, etc.)

 

Staff Welcome

Julia Bamba, our extraordinary Principal, spoke eloquently about Gibson Ek HS, its mission for our children, how amazing the first week has already been, and her excitement for this year. Casey Henry, the amazing Learning Through Internship Coordinator, spoke about how we as parents can help our children by reaching out to friends and colleagues to introduce this wonderful program to them and encourage them to become mentors.

 

Upcoming Events

Parent Engagement Night (aka Curriculum Night) is September 22 from 5 to 6:30 pm at Gibson Ek HS. Hosted by the staff and teachers, it is a wonderful opportunity to meet your student’s advisor and tour the school.

 

Future PTSA Events - Our goal is to focus on fellowship, relationship building, and strengthening our parent community with some business for the membership: 

December ?  6:30-7:30 pm @Gibson Ek HS

 

How You Can Contribute   

  • Join the PTSA. Your membership does not automatically renew. You need to sign up every year per school. Even add a student membership to help boost our membership!
  • Donate through a general or “Pass the Hat” donation for this year’s fundraising. Suggested donation per family is $300 (or as much as you’re comfortable with). All contributions and membership are tax deductible.
  • Choose Gibson Ek PTSA as your Amazon Smile charity.  The PTSA will get 0.5% of all your eligible purchases.

 

We are so excited to work with you to create the support that we all need parenting teenagers. You are not alone! Let’s get together and talk again!
